Chenoweth Creates Political-Action Committee
BOISE, ID -- Congressman Helen Chenoweth (R-ID-1) announced she has converted her campaign
organization to a Political-Action Committee in order to help elect "a new generation of common
sense conservative leaders." The new political organization is named Helen's List (Help Elect
Leaders Every November).
"Many people have asked me to consider running for a fourth term and I appreciate their confidence
in me and their concern for the future," Chenoweth said. "But I made a bargain with the voters
to limit my term of service in this office to three consecutive terms, and I am going to keep
that promise. I am not, however, going to leave the political arena. I am establishing this
organization in order to help other candidates continue the fight for our future. Helen's
List will support those candidates for public office who believe the role of government is to
protect life, liberty and private property."
Having retired all outstanding debt from her previous congressional campaigns, Chenoweth decided
it was time to restructure her campaign organization in order to support qualified candidates
for the 2000 elections.
"My past campaigns have always been more about the issues of personal freedom, individual responsibility
and states' rights," Chenoweth said. "It has been enormously humbling and gratifying to know
thousands of people in Idaho and across the country have shown their support for these issues by
contributing more than 3.1 million to my past campaigns. I am hopeful we can take that energy and enthusiasm
to the next level and continue to use it to chain the government and free the people."
